Anita Briem is an Icelandic actress from Iceland . Known for her portrayal as Jane Seymour , the young woman who is destined to be Queen Elizabeth III's third spouse Henry VIII in the series on television The Tudors and for her character as Hannah in the film Journey to the Center of the Earth ( 2008 ) . Briem was nine when she first began performing at Iceland's National Theater. Briem had been an actor in Iceland as a kid. Briem left Iceland for London when she was 16 where he took part in a theater production called Lenin's Love. Briem was 19, and was admitted to The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She studied there for three consecutive years. Briem earned her degree in Drama, and was awarded the John Barton Prize under the Scenic Fight category. The actor performed in a number of shows at RADA including The Cherry Garden, by Anton Chekhov, and Bernarda Alba's house, from Federico Garcia Lorca. After graduating, Briem continued to work in the London theatre, performing in plays such as Catalog of Misunderstanding directed by Mike Figgis in The National Theater Studio as well as the highly successful season of five months in the West End of Losing Louis .
