Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift began to show an desire to work in the music industry at a young age. Her career progressed rapidly from children's play roles, through her first public appearance in crowds of people. Swift began to compose songs in the teen years. Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. Swift, who took her ideas from Shania's music and her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm in country music composed the original songs she wrote to express her experience with alienation. Swift moved from Pennsylvania along with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she turned 13 to devote more time to reaching out to the country music labels.
